Pack the following supplies in your traveling First Aid Kit:

Ace-type elastic bandages, can also be used to splint limbs

Adhesive tape

Antacids and lomotil/kapoectate/liquid cork

Antibiotic ointment

Antibiotics; prescription pill type Somebody will come down with something, sure as hell.  Best to be ready for it. Check for antibiotic allergies in the group.

Aspirin....nothing stronger, as customs can get pissed off about 'narcotics' and I react badly to Motrin and such.

Baby powder...for your feet, for your balls.......

Bandage scissors

Band-aids - fabric type best. Assortment of sizes and types.

Betadine - small bottle

Bug repellant - cream type works best

Cortisone ointment, with topical anesthetic, Large tube – good for bug bite and jellyfish stings

Gauze pads - 3x3 or 4x4

Gauze, Roll of

Gloves, Sterile

Peroxide - large bottle

Q-tips

Saline, Sterile and plastic syringes for irrigating wounds

Steri-strips or butterfly bandages if nobody is good at suturing

Sunscreen and sunburn cream

Toothache kit, with oil of cloves for popped fillings and busted teeth

Tweezers

PUT SUPPLIES IN A BOX THAT IS CLEARLY VISIBLE AND AVAILABLE.

DON'T TAKE INJECTABLES OF ANY KIND. THOSE WITH ALLERGIES SHOULD TAKE SOMETHING TRANSLATED INTO THE LANGUAGE OF THE COUNTRY THAT STATES WHAT THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO.  "MEDIC-ALERT" BRACELETS ARE USEFUL.  THOSE WITH INSECT OR ANTIBIOTIC ALLERGIES SHOULD TAKE APPROPRIATE ANTIBIOTICS AND EPINEPHERINE/ADRENALINE INJECTORS WITH COPIES OF THEIR PRESCRIPTIONS.

KIT CONTENTS ARE BASED ON BEING SEVERAL HOURS AWAY FROM ANYTHING FAINTLY RESEMBLING AN EMERGENCY ROOM. THIS IS BOTH A TROPICAL REPAIR KIT (I USE PEROXIDE AND BETADINE AND ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENT ON CUTSAND SCRAPES) AND A LOW-END TRAUMA KIT.  LAST TIME I WENT, WE HAD A TRAUMA SURGEON ALONG.  BRAVE MAN, AS IF HE GOT HURT ALL HE HAD TO PATCH HIM UP WAS ME.
